Collier's team get on their bikes to help war heroes


A team from Collier's Powerful Welsh Cheddar will be getting on their bikes this weekend to ride 150 miles in a bid to raise cash for the Help for Heroes charity.

Pat Brunt, 45, Nick Hilton, 55, Dan Harper, 36 and Findlay Macleod, 46 will be taking to two wheels to complete the Coast to Coast Challenge, cycling from Whitehaven in West Cumbria on the North West coast to Tynemouth on the North East coast.

The four will dip their wheels in the Irish Sea before setting off to ride 50 miles a day, starting off on Friday 17 July and finishing on Sunday 19 July. The undulating route will take them across the Lake District and on to the Northern Pennines through some of the most remote, rugged and beautiful parts of England to the finish at the North Sea.

The idea for the thigh-busting ride was sparked by one of the team, whose son has toured Helmand province, Afghanistan, as a Captain in 40 Commando, Royal Marines, the team decided to raise money for the soldiers who had risked their lives on the front line.


One of the team members said:

“We hope to raise several thousand pounds for Help for Heroes and would welcome any donations for this worthwhile cause.”
