Visitors to the Cheshire County Show got the chance to sample the powerful flavour of Collier’s Powerful Welsh Cheddar this week.
The tasty cheese was the sponsor of the Signal Radio stand at the showground where showgoers stopped off to taste the unique flavour of the award-winning cheddar.
Some 80,000 people visit the show each year, and with soaring temperatures of 25°C, numbers are likely to be even higher this year.
Signal broadcast an interview with Collier’s new brand ambassador, cricket legend Darren Gough, who is mad about Collier’s cheddar.
Former cricket international Darren was speaking from South Africa, where he is covering the football World Cup for the radio station Talksport.
Darren told Signal listeners: “I discovered Collier’s when I was playing international cricket and I have been a big fan ever since. I used to take it with me when I was playing abroad and when I won Strictly Come Dancing I made sure I had some in my dressing room!
“It’s made in North Wales and has a cracking taste. I love the little crystals of salt that form in it when it’s really mature giving it a nice crunch. It tastes sweet and savoury at the same time.
“If you look for it in the shops, you’ll recognise it by the black packaging and the iconic image of the Collier’s miner. It’s in most of the larger supermarkets in the country so you should have no trouble finding it.”
Signal Radio broadcasts to 875,000 people so there could be plenty of new Collier’s fans!
